HA6 - Task 3

Evaluation of project

I think my product went very well, there is many different things I might of done whilst making the assets, such as adding more detail into the character or adding more detail into the background. I also think I managed my time well, seeing as I only had a short amount of time to do the product. There are many things about the product in which I am very happy with and these are things like, I am very happy with the look of the game, I feel like the style of the game could be used in many different products, for a simple 2d game I feel like it is a game which a lot of people will really enjoy playing. There is a few bad points about the game for example, the game is a simple 2d game so there is not to much detail in the game, but to be honest the detail is probably the best I could do at the time. I am very pleased with the outcome of the game and I would like to carry on making these type of games, hopefully if people are pleased with this game they will continue to follow me down a path of making new games.

HA6 - Task 2

Example on what to expect in trailer and game.

This image shows what happens when you chop the tree to slow and the monster comes to kill you.

This image shows the game when you are doing fine and really this is what it looks like when playing the game normally.

This image shows what happens when you chop the tree to fast and the tree falls and kills you.

HA6 - Task 1

Trailer ideas:

This game is really good for ideas and this is because i have chosen a lumberjack game where there is monsters that kill you, but it dose not look like you cut trees down so i would only be taking a few ideas away from this game.

This game is the best trailer that i can find and this is because it has everything that the game i have been asked to make a trailer for has, when i make a trailer it may be similar to this, i will not copy this but i would like to take a few ideas away from this so i could put together my own trailer. The reason i like these two trailer so much, is because the game that has asked me to make a trailer is very similar to these two trailers, this is because the first trailer has monsters which attack you and the second trailer has the same style of game which is going to be made, it shows this because if you chop the trees down to slow you die, but if you go to fast to get stuck and the way the two games have been combined is that when you chop trees down to fast, in this new game, the tree will fall on you and kill you and if you chop the trees down to slow monsters will kill you, so these to games if you add them together are very similar to the game which i am making a trailer for.

Ideas map:

This is an ideas map which is made on mind genius and it shows all the ideas I went over to make the assets for this game.

Story Board:

This story board shows the aim of the game, which is chopping down tree. The story board is just to show people what to expect when playing the game, for example this story board is showing what it looks like when you chop a tree trunk. If you don`t know what a story board is, it is to show people what the game is about or to show people what to expect when playing the game. I have looked at many different story boards so I could get a idea of what to do for my own and most of the ones I looked were similar to this.
Frame by frame
1.About to chop the tree.
2.Swings the axe back.
3.Hits the tree.
4.Tree slowly moves way from screen.
5.Tree slowly moves way from screen.
6.Tree slowly moves way from screen.
7.Tree slowly moves way from screen.
8.Tree slowly moves way from screen.
9. Disappears from screen.

HA5 - Task 2

Animation Techniques

Stop motion animation:

Stop motion animation is a animation technique where the animators would physically move the objects in the film so what we would see is moving objects, for example, Wallace and Gromit is a very famous animation which did actually use stop motion animation, this is because Wallace and Gromit are actually made out of play do and play do can not actually move by its self, so what the animators did was film Wallace and Gromit doing something then they would stop the film and change the position of Wallace and Gromit then put the film back on, they would do this so many times until it made a scene and the viewers would see Wallace and Gromit doing something.

Nightmare before Christmas.

Tim Burton`s nightmare before Christmas is a very good example of stop motion animation, this is because nightmare before Christmas is a 1993 american stop motion dark fantasy musical film directed by Henry Selick and if you have seen this you will know that it is a stop motion animation by the way it looks, but if you have not seen it you should know that it is a animation where the characters have been modeled by artists, but seeing as it is a musical it would of took the producers a long time to move the moths in the time of the lyrics o the songs.

Tim Burton`s corpse bride is a 2005 British-American stop motion animated musical fantasy film directed by Mike Johnson and Tim Burton, this production was many years after nightmare before Christmas and as you can see by the two pictures above they look very different in production, but this could be because they have more money from when they were making nightmare before Christmas.

Computer animation and 2d computer animation:

Computer animation is the latest stage of animation. Computer animation is very different to the other stages of animation that i have listed above, computer animation is where the animators will control the assets and characters on the computer and they will make different scenes using the assets and characters, this will be similar to the stop motion animation but instead it will be digital, they are similar because you have the assets and you create a scene by moving them in different stages and you will be recording this every time you do this.

South park is one of the best examples of 2d animation and this is because it is a very popular 2d animation and many people watch it. Trey Parker and Matt Stone first created south park in 1992 but it was not a famous show until around 1997 when it became the first viral videos on the internet, the shows started gaining great reviews and stated getting really popular until it became one of the most watched shows in the world. South park had some issues with their audience and this is because they have some really brutal humor on the show, for example they have a lot of raciest comments, which some people take offensive, but the show dose intend to offend anybody they just consist on making people laugh.

http://www.mmogratuit.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Family-Guy-Online-wallpaper-1.jpg

Family guy is another great example of 2d animation and this is also because it is another very popular show. Family guy was first put to the test when Seth MacFarlane, the creater and voice actor of the show put the show into the owner of a big company called FOX and they shortly went into production, in 2002 shortly after there 3rd series of family guy, FOX had to cancel the series because just like south park they have very brutal humor but FOX must of locked down on their content.

Animation in games

Animation is different in many media sectors, such as you will see many different types of animation in the film industry, so you might see different types of tracking, because in a film you want to see the actors, but when you see a game you are the camera, so you control what happens and when it happens. Gaming animation consists over designing different assets, this is because you can not control real life people in a game, so people have to design characters to control in a game. Gaming animation has changed so much from the 80s, it has gone from a small 2d gaming experience to a 3d gaming experience and the graphics on the games have changed so much, when in early stage on 3d games the graphics were great then but looking at them now you will be shocked, it went from paper looking characters and buildings to looking like it is in real life.

Animation in films

Animation in films is different to what you see in films games, but not all things are different, you will see affects in films which you probably would see in games, but the main different aspect about making a film to making a game is you don`t make something were the people consuming the product control, if you add animation, such as fire, you will add it to the actor or something else in the scene, but in a game you could make it so the fire is a character in the game. The main thing about making a film is that adding animation is optional but in a game adding animation is a crucial point of making the game. As you can see the images above they are very different to each other, mostly because the color of images, but if you look at the pictures their is many different aspects, such as in the old pictures their are horse and carriages , then when you look at the new image there is cars, you look at the other picture there is a old hot dog stand and a new one, and if you look the old hot dog stand owner is wearing a suit and the new one is wearing a track suit.

HA4 - Task 2

Pre digital Animator

Emile Cohl.jpg
Emile Cohl
Was a french Caricaturist of the largely forgotten Incoherent Movement, he was named the father of animated cartoon. The 50 year old Cohl was walking down the street when he spotted a movie poster which was stolen from one of his comic strips. He then confronted the manager of the studio,Gaumont, in outrage and then was hired on the spot as a scenarist-the person generating one page story ideas for movies. Between February and may 1908, Cohl created Fantasmagorie, it was considered the first fully animated film.

Post digital Animator

Walt Disney 1946.JPG
Walt Disney can be described as both pre and post digital animator, but as we all no mickey mouse is still being made today, Walt Disney himself is a pre digital animator but his design is still being made and could still be being made in years to come. Mickey mouse is Walt Disney biggest creation and Mickey Mouse has change so much over the years.
Image result for mickey mouse old to new
Walt Disney was born December 5th 1901 and sadly passed away December 15th 1966, he was born in Chicago and that is wear he developed his love for drawing, then later on moved his drawings on to animation.
Pixar was started in 1979 as the graphics group, they were part of the lucasfilm production before gaining a large sum of money to make Pixar into their own company, this large sum of money actually made Pixar the riches corporation at the time. In 2006 Disney purchased Pixar for about 7.6 billion dollars, this made Pixar the biggest shareholder that Disney ever invested into. Pixar at the time was the digital side of the Disney, this is because most of Disney`s products are stop motion which is physical pictures that are turned into a animation, Pixar production is digital and that means they make all there products on a computer.

HA4 - Task 1

Persistence Of Vision

Persistence of vision is where their are multiple images and they make the mind believe they are all one image combined to make a moving image, a example of this would be a flip book, because if you look at a flip book their is just loads of different images and when you turn all of the pages really quick your mind will then see a moving image.

Beta Movement

Beta movement is a optical illusion, first described by Max Wertheimer in 1912, where a series of static images create a smooth going scene. This occurs when the frame rate is greater the 10 to 12. The static images do not physically change but because they move rapidly it makes the mind believe that it is a on going scene.

Frame rate

Frame rate, also known as frame frequency, is the frequency rate which images (frames) are displayed. This term is used in many different media products such as film and video cameras, and motion capture systems. Frame rate is usually expressed as frames per seconds (FPS).

Suspension of disbelief

Suspension of disbelief often applies to fictional works of the action, comedy, fantasy, and horror genres. Suspension of disbelief is often an essential element for a magic show or a circus side show. For example an audience is not expected to actually believe that a woman/man is cut in half or transformed into a animal.
